the station ... on the longest Heritage Railway in England ... for one of the most perfectly preserved medieval villages in England ... bliss!

The Station

For those yet to visit Dunster Station, or those who have but wish to refresh their memory, here is a "look around" the station

Driving along Station Road the first sighting of the railway is the Dunster West Level Crossing

Originally this crossing was guarded by gates, but nowadays they are guarded by a flashing light system

Turning right the first sight is the large yard and station building. Much work has been done enlarging this yard, and also clearing trees to enhance the view across to Dunster Castle

On entering the station looking left you can see Minehead station in the far distance, and to the right you can see Sea Lane Crossing and the line to Blue Anchor

Opposite the station used to be a busy and thriving Goods Yard, with its listed Goods Shed. This is now home the the Permanent Way department of the WSR

Entering into the station building there is a feeling of going back in time as very little has changed since the building was first completed. There is plenty of memorabilia, pictures and signs to look at, snacks to kill any pangs of hunger, and even the original window to the booking office.

In the corner of the Booking Office we have a small selection of Model Railway items plus some very interesting Railway Memorabilia courtesy of Chris Dyer Fairs. Stock is changed on a regular basis.
